howtosaveadeadfriend | An image-driven audiovisual synthesizer
A camera-based synthesizer that treats image data as material for real-time sound generation.
Each frame generates a new sonic state.

And this is an eyeshadow demo video

-Colour shapes timbre

-Brightness shapes pitch

Point a camera at anything—eyeshadow, plants, fabric, skin—and it becomes an instrument. Pixel values stream into synthesis parameters in real time.

This is what interests me: the synthesizer as a site of controlled unpredictability. You shape the conditions (camera angle, lighting, movement) but the sound emerges from whatever the sensor captures right now. Like playing in a room where the air itself is the resonator. Like a plant responding to light—not performing, just existing and creating sound as a side effect.

Jam Sessions

Material Residueon
London Street

Exploring the sonic potential of urban debris.

Urban Frequency
DLR

A live experiment using the synthesizer inside the Docklands Light Railway. The movement, colours, lighting and visual patterns of the urban environment were processed as sources of randomness, transforming the journey into an evolving sonic experience.

Organic Noise
Freetown Christiania

producing an imagined biological system.

Botanical Performance

Split-screen jam. Two plants conversing through stereo synthesis, each channel wired to a different organism. A plant DJ set: no playing, only generating.
